Hmmmm... should I reveal my secrets?! ... It was simple really. I put the dominoes standing on end on a black posterboard. When I took the picture I was standing a little above the dominoes (not looking straight on them). Also, when I processed the pix I totally darkened the shadow part of the picture so that the background would be completely blacked out and not at all grey. The final thing I did was to flip the picture on the computer screen. :) When you look at it 'right-side-up' it's nothing special at all! LOL. I actually did a whole series of dominoe pictures like this one. (you can see most of 'em in my shutterstock gallery although one was rejected as it 'had no stock value'). They were a lot of fun to do!

Oh! I get it!
I thought that maybe you had flipped the photo. Guess I'm perty smart!
It's all in how you look at it. (The picture, Beth, not whether you are smart or not.)
