What Did You Get???

I thought it would be fun if everyone shared what they got for Christmas! I got sparkly socks. I collect socks and my sparkly socks got a hole in them so Heather found a new pair for me! :) I also got body lotion and a Chocolate Fondue fountain. Which I'm planning on using for our chick flick night! (I'll be posting 'bout that soon!) And monkeys! Monkey slippers and monkey pj's!! Oh yes... And Brett's parents got me a 2 gig memory card for my camera and a book on lighting. YAY! So... what did you get???

My hubby and I agreed not to exchange this year due to a stone fireplace we still need done. The kids made us some cute ornaments though.

Ohhhhh! A new camera!!!! I just love, love, love cameras. In case you haven't noticed. LOL. I'm saving my pennies for a new one - an upgrade from my Digital Rebel. :) I was getting quite a bit saved up, but then we needed that money for bills. :( I'm trying really hard to believe that God knows what I need and WHEN I need it... But I'm afraid I'm a little impatient.... Guess that's one reason God has me waiting.

Brett and I also agreed not to exchange gifts. We are in desperate need of a new couch and so it just seemed silly to get other stuff... Everything I listed was from my in-laws and from my kiddos.

I think the coolest thing is to watch my kids. They LOVE to buy gifts for each other and for us. Heather especially enjoys that and is more excited about Christmas than ever before. :)

Jessi got me the slippers. Heather said they were out shopping for something else and they were clear across the store and Jessi out of the blue points to them and says, "I'm getting those for mom for Christmas!" LOL. I guess they just screamed ME. :) I do like monkeys and always wanted a pet monkey.

Me too, that's why I had kids. ;)

I did receive a very cute Diann Dengel print (from Bethany) and an exceptionally nice basket of goodies (everything imaginable) from Dave and Leta. James has promised me another weekend at The Quiet Place, maybe this summer. Very nice!

I got a new digital camera too. I got a Kodak Easy Share C875. Also, my friend Melissa got me a professional watercolor set! I was so surprised. She and I never exchange gifts so I wasn't expecting it. She said she saw it and couldn't resist. Isn't she sweet?

So cool Priscilla on both counts!! Both Heather and Jessi have Easy Shares (not sure which models) and they love them!! And what a special friendyou have! :) I love surprising people like that - though I don't do it as much as I'd like to!! Or as much as I probably should.

I used to complain about all the 'comercialism' and such with Christmas... but I'm beginning to see the good in it! Not only the learning to really see and know a person so that you can give the right gift - but also the learning to receive from others. It's HARD for me to receive and takes swallowing a bit of my self righteous pride and my flesh doesn't like it one bit! LOL. I'm sure that's not the way it is with everyone... but that's the way it is with me!! And so... God is teaching me about both ends of the spectrum through how we celebrate Christmas.

And Martha... You mentioned the print from Bethany but I never saw it when I was over there today! Guess we just forgot... but the basket looked very nice indeed. :) And I bet you are looking forward to that get-away with James! I'm always wanting to 'get-away'. LOL. I love to travel even if I don't get to do it much!!

hey shelly, I was wondering how you get a macro shot and everything in the back is out of focus. I am having trouble figuring out which settings to set it on.

LM1 - Camera talk! I love camera talk!!! :) Okay... do you know how to adjust your aperature??? On my camera it's the AV mode (aperature value). (Of course you can also adjust it in the manuel mode if you like!) The wider your aperature, the less depth of field you get. And with aperature, the smaller the number, the wider it is. So... f2.8 is wider than say f8. The thing is the closer you are to an item that will also give you a shallower depth of field. So usually when you are doing macro work you need a smaller aperature to give it enough depth of field. Hope that helps!! Feel free to ask questions ANY TIME! :) I know how confusing it all is in the beginning.
