Spring is in the Air

I sat out on my front porch for a bit this afternoon hoping to capture some squirrels or birds.... The only thing that came close enough to get a decent shot were these two 'lovebirds'.

Savannah Cats

I've never really been a small cat lover - I much prefer dogs! But I've decided it would be really cool to own one of these! They are a hybrid breed and are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

You can read all about them HERE.

Fund Raising

Hannah and Jessi made fudge and I made some chocolate chip cookies to raise money for Teena's surgeries. They grossed over $90!! We'll make some more on Saturday to bring to church on Sunday. I bet she sells quite a bit a church as my Chocolate Chip cookies are famous there! LOL.

PDA Surgery

Tina's PDA surgery is scheduled for Monday. We are hoping that they will ALSO take care of her fracture at that time and save us a chunk of money. But that all depends on how well things go.... Jessi is working on ways to raise money. Already she has $300 in outright donations!! She plans on making fudge and taking it door to door with Tina's picture. She might take some to church too....

God is so good and I know He is somehow going to provide for this.

Teena Update

I took Teena to the surgeon today hoping to get an evaluation on her leg. Not only is surgery needed for her leg but she also has PDA and if left untreated she will develop congestive heart failure at an early age. Of course the heart is of primary concern and they won't even touch the leg until that is taken care of. According to our contract the breeder guarantees the heart but all that means is that they exchange dogs - not pay for surgery. I know we've only had Teena for a little over a week - but we already love her. We really need to hear God in this!! We have emailed the breeder and asked for her help in paying for the surgery....

Thanks everyone for your prayers.

Puppy Crisis

We've had our beautiful puppy less than a week and yesterday, around 7:30, she was up on the couch and decided to jump off. Apparantly she landed funny and nearly did a sommersault. Her left leg was kinda crooked and she would not bear any weight on it what-so-ever. If we tried to straighten it she'd flip out. She refused to lay down in her crate and would only sleep (sort of) if we held on to her. I thought for sure she'd shake it off and we just needed to get her mind off of it and get her walking and she'd be fine. Well, as the evening wore on and it just didn't get any better, after MUCH prayer and talk with hubby, we decided to take her in to the animal hospital. The xrays revealed a severe break. She has a temporary bandage on her leg right now and she'll need to see a surgeon to see if she needs surgury or if she can heal fine with just a splint. She's on pain meds but still in quite a bit of pain and having a difficult time sleeping. As you can see, her bandage is almost as big as she!! Please keep our beautiful sweet puppy in prayer. And us too! We really would like to know what God is saying through all of this.....

Happy Birthday Martha

She's older than me. HA!
She has 7 kids and only 1 husband. (Read her profile - it always makes me laugh.)
She's a great mom.
She made me a delicious apple pie once. YUM!
She belongs to Jesus.
She calls me up sometimes just because! Those are the best kinds of calls.
She's fun to go hiking with.
We've been on many adventures together.
She counts roadkill on long car trips.
She likes to laugh.
She's a prayer warrior.
She loves little kids and they love her right back.
She's a great writer and ought to write a book.
She should dedicate it to me for encouraging her to write it! :)
She's a talented artist too.
She seems to know just about everyone.
She likes to take pictures. I think she takes more than I do!
She's a really good friend who sticks with you through thick and thin.
She could be a meteorologist.
She used to live around the corner from me but she moved away...
I love her new place even if we can't just walk over there anymore. (But I have biked there!)
We swapped maternity clothes back and forth for a bit.
I couldn't have been a snot queen without her support!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTHA!!!!
Thank you for being such a great friend.

Many Faces

We probably have the most photographed bird.... Now I'm working on the most photographed dog! The funny thing is... she looks completely different in black and white, sepia and blue toned than she does in color.

Showers

I went to two baby showers this weekend. One for my sister and one for someone from my church. I went to one a couple of weeks ago too! Then I have a wedding shower coming up in the near future. I'm all showered out. But I do love the babies. And I do love giving gifts. It's just the games.... Sorry to be a party pooper, but I'm just not a fan of shower games. UGH!!! Now I hide behind my camera!! :)

The best shower I went to was actually the one Sandy P. had for me. We got together, had some munchies, and then to my amazement everyone there (and there were a lot of people there) proceeded to pray for me!!! I was totally blown away. It was soooo beautiful!!! Oh yes, and of course there were gifts too.

NEW LENS!

I finally got the new lens I've been drooling over for forever (it's Canon's 70-200 mm)! I got a chance to really try it out down by the bay. Here's a few shots I took with it....

Final Goodbyes...

In memory of V. Glenn McIninch
AKA, Grampy

Yesterday was the memorial service for my Grandfather. Today, I dedicate this blog to his memory....
He was slow and methodical in everything he did.

But he did everything well!

He loved my grandmother.

He loved his children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was quiet and thoughtful.

He was very intelligent.

He worked at Kodak.

Even after he retired they would hire him for various projects.

He designed his own home and built most of it too.

He included all kinds of hidden storage space and a laundry shoot too!

I never saw him angry.

He gave his heart to the Lord shortly before he died.

He loved to take pictures.

He has thousands of slides of his family and various vacations and trips.

He had a darkroom in his house and taught my mom and my aunt how to develop black and white prints.

He was very distinguished.

He travelled all over the world.

He loved Spanish.

He enjoyed windsurfing.

He enjoyed life!

He liked SPICY foods - though I never could make it spicy enough!!

He fell into a butter churn when he was a toddler.

He lived through the dust bowl and the depression.

He gave me my first car.

He was born in 1914.

He grew up in Oklahoma.

He married my Grandmother in 1939.

He loved to share with us about his childhood.

He had 9 siblings but only 6 survived infancy.

He liked to create things.

Growing up he created many toys for his siblings.

His favorite was the ferris wheel that he built in their backyard that you could actually ride on!

His favorite holiday was Halloween.

He liked to play tricks on the kids that came back for seconds.

He was an amazing gardener.

He could carve cool animals out of his bushes.

He loved history.

My mom is named after him. (She was supposed to be a boy!)

He was married to my grandmother for 68 years!

Goodbye Grampy! You will be missed - but I'm soooo thankful I will be seeing you again. :)

Walking Rib Cages and other Nonsense

Okay... So, Heather, my 16 year old daughter and I were playing ping-pong tonight. A rather amusing experience in itself. She serves the ball and it goes behind her! But... That's another blog entry. Tonight, she all of a sudden says, "OW, OW, OW!" In her usual, okay I'm in pain but nothing terrible really - just enough to get some attention kind of yelling. Then she says, and I quote, "I walked into my rib cage." I bust out laughing.... Then she says rather emphatically, "I meant my rib cage walked into the chair!!" To which I laugh even harder. Then she says, rather flustered and frustrated at this point, "I really meant I walked my rib cage into the chair..... Okay, FORGET the walk - I hit my rib cage on the chair!!"

So, we were being a little silly and maybe it's not so funny as what it was when you were there... but I think at least Martha will enjoy it....

Chocolate Kind of Day

Yesterday was a chocolate kind of day. Thank God for chocolate!!!! It makes life a little sweeter.
